Graham Blackburn
Sadly one of AAPA’s life members, Graham Blackburn, passed away on November 29 at the age of 80. Graham was a founding member of AAPA in 1969, with Hot Mix Ltd one of the signatories to the original Memorandum of Association.
He was one of the early holders of the role of Chair of AAPA, a position he held on several occasions. He was one of the early leaders inspiring the development of the AAPA Technical Training program through the “Engineers Training course” which later became the AAPA 5-day course for engineers and supervisors and ultimately the current Flexible Pavements Principles & Practices course. He was a strong supporter of the AAPA Conference including one of the early traditions during the eighties which became the keenly contested tennis match between Graham and Ray Farrelly. Graham passed away peacefully, with family by his side. Our sympathies go to his wife Lis, children and grandchildren.
The funeral was held in Perth at Karrakatta Cemetery on 10th of December. Graham made a huge contribution to the industry and will be fondly remembered.
Yours faithfully
Chief Executive Officer
