Tragically, some 1,200 Australians die on our roads every year, with tens of thousands more seriously injured. This human tragedy is compounded by the significant economic costs of road trauma, which are estimated at a staggering $27 billion annually.

Despite significant government effort at both State and Federal levels, fatality and injury rates are still above targets set out in the National Road Safety Strategy 2011-20. Clearly, we need to examine our approach, ask difficult questions and develop more effective approaches to ensure the next decade to 2030 sees much safer roads for all Australians.

Roads Australia (RA) is determined to help lead this conversation as road safety is our number one policy priority.

During 2019 in Melbourne, RA brought together stakeholders from across the road safety spectrum to identify opportunities for greater collaboration and reinforce the critical message that road safety is everyone’s business.

On 6 May 2021, RA will again host government, industry and community representatives in Brisbane to hear from the leaders in road safety and showcase some of the latest innovations.

With the next National Road Safety Strategy to 2030 being developed, now is the time for you to become involved in the discussion that will help frame key aspects of this strategy, namely:

  • Safe roads
  • Safe vehicles
  • Safe road use
  • Safe road workers.

Don’t miss out on this unique opportunity to influence Australia’s approach to road safety, not only to benefit our industry, but the entire community.

Further program details will be announced in the coming weeks. We have a great line-up of nearly 20 speakers already locked in, so I encourage to you act now to secure your place.
