New pavements/materials Technical Notes, updated guideline
Two new Technical Notes and an updated guideline relating to pavements and materials have been released.
TN193 Use of recycled materials in road construction provides guidance on the department’s Technical Specifications that support the use of recycled products. Developed as part of a National Asset Centre of Excellence (NACOE) project, TN193 is a useful tool for people looking to improve the sustainability outcomes of their projects, especially those seeking Infrastructure Sustainability Council of Australia (ISCA) ratings.
Failure to identify existing pavement conditions before design often leads to premature failures on rehabilitated pavements. TN192 Pavement rehabilitation – Investigation and analysis and the updated Structural design procedure of pavements on lime stabilised subgrades guideline provide guidance to project managers, pavement designers, testing personnel and contractors on assessing available information and site conditions to improve accuracy and efficiency in planning and undertaking pavement investigation work.
