Queensland update on COVID – 19 Border  Closure

AfPA is working with members and government to ensure road construction and maintenance can continue safely during current COVID restrictions and border closures.

Queensland Border Closures Impacts on Essential Workers

The Queensland Government continues to recognise road maintenance and repair as an essential service and those delivering it as essential workers.  AfPA has received advice from the Department of Transport and Main Roads (TMR) that as it stands currently the system for those essential workers moving between Queensland and NSW will be the same as has been in place under previous border closures in 2020.  For staff traveling between the two states permits will be required and strict adherence to COVID public health directions as outlined on the Queensland Health COVID webpage.

The State Government has emphasized that the situation is fluid and requirements could change at short notice. Members are encouraged to monitor QLD Health webpage for updates.
