New Technical Note – TN190

Transport and Main Roads continues to lead the country in asphalt innovation with the release of new Technical Note TN190 Construction and trafficking of high modulus asphalt (EME2)

The department was the first road agency in Australia to publish both a pavement design methodology and a technical specification for EME2 and conducted the first large-scale trial in 2017, laying more than 10,000 tonnes successfully on the Deagon Deviation of the Gateway Upgrade North project. We have laid 364,000 tonnes to date on the state’s roads.

TN190 Construction and Trafficking of High Moduls Asphalt (EME2) joins the Pavement Design Supplement and MRTS32 High Modulus Asphalt in detailing the construction advantages of this stronger, better-performing alternative to conventional asphalt for heavy-duty pavements.
